Pat likes, sorry loves, infomercials. In his opinion, the main point you can learn from infomercials is testing and optimizing. Before running an nationwide infomercial, they are tested locally on a smaller scale. You can do the same running small Adwords campaigns.
He recommends to watch infomercials actively and especially look out for:
- demonstrations – how “easily” the products are used
- calls to action – how the customers is told (not asked) to do something
- pricing – how the price is mentioned quite late in the infomercial, how it is compared to similar products, and how the are massively price reduced
